Play around with different hues and styles for your cupcakes. If you're making your own, you have no limitations what-so-ever. Go ahead, experiment and have fun! If you change your mind or don't like the look of your wrapper, no worries. Wrappers are easy to change out and can also coordinate with other patterns and colors.

DIY Paper Cupcake Wrapper

You may not be sure where to look to find out how to make your own custom cupcake wrappers. We checked out Cindy Hopper's blog called Skip-to-my-Lou. She had complete instructions including a template. The basic materials you need are written down below and we've included a link to Cindy's blog at the end of these instructions so you can download the pattern.

Materials needed:

Sturdy piece of construction or scrapbook paper Transparent Tape
Wrapper Pattern (see below)*

Supplies needed:

Sharp Scissors

Directions:

Step 1: Trace wrapper pattern onto your construction or scrapbook paper.

Step 2: Cut the pattern out with scissors.

Step 3: Wrap the paper wrapper around your finished cupcake and secure with tape.

Simple Cupcake Wrapper

Check out Elaine Biss's mind-blowingly simple cupcake wrapper idea. To make these, Elaine says you'll need a ruler, scissors, tape and nice paper. An award winning graphic artist, Elaine used some of her own wonderful paper to make these wraps, but you can try out the design yourself with scrapbook paper or a heavy weight wrapping paper. Be sure to measure how tall your cupcake is as well. You'll need to cut a strip of paper the circumference of the cupcake and appropriate height. Elaine recommends cutting the paper on a slant on one side. After wrapping the cupcake and taping it so it's secure, ice your cupcake with the frosting of your choice.
