Pink Cupcake Stand

This hot pink cupcake stand accented in chocolate brown ribbon is a colorful theme you can use for many different occasions. The cardboard stand in this example is from www.greenpartygoods.com (thanks Carole!). You can try any number of color combination's using the basic guidelines in this quick how-to.

Materials needed:

  • 1 pre-manufactured cardboard stand
  • 1 12 sq ft roll bright pink solid-color gift wrap paper
  • 3/8" Brown Decorative Ribbon with Pink Polka-Dots

Supplies needed:

  • Pencil
  • Regular scissors
(if they are not sharp enough to cut through the ribbon, get another pair)
  • Glue stick
  • Regular tape
  • Double-sided tape or Low-Temp Glue Gun

Directions:

Step 1: Unroll your wrapping paper. Using the stand pieces as patterns, trace around each card board tier giving yourself a 1/2" - 1" margin. Cut your gift wrap allowing the overage. For the card board center supports, trace around the pieces exactly and cut to fit.

Step 2: Cut into the wrapping paper overage almost to the card board to create a fringe. (This will help to wrap the paper as close as possible to the boards and allow you to round the corners easily.) Fold each fringe over the board and tape securely. Repeat for all the tiers.

Step 3: For the cardboard support, trim the paper to the boards and secure paper using glue gun. Do not wrap around the edges of the boards! (The cardboard tiers from the other layers thread through the stand. If the edges are wrapped, the stand won't assemble properly.)

Step 4: Using the double stick tape or low-temp glue gun, secure ribbon to the edges of the cupcake tiers.

Step 5: Give the stand a little time to rest allowing the tape or glue to bond securely. Carefully assemble your stand using the manufacturer's directions. Glue ribbon onto the edges of the center supports to cover raw edges. You can also add a ribbon border on the bottom edge for a more finished look.

Step 6: Stand back and enjoy your creation!
