Floral Cupcake Decorating Ideas

Floral cupcake decorating ideas seem to make the biggest impression when it comes to beautifully designed cupcakes.

Perhaps it's the unexpected nature of a flower. Or maybe it's the fact that something so intricately put together is close enough for you to really take a look at. After all, on a large cake, you could only "hope" to get the piece with the flower on it. Lucky for the modern cupcake decorator, you have a tremendous variety of techniques to choose from when deciding on flowers for your cupcake. Do you want a buttercream rose? Or perhaps some cute buttercups made of fondant. For the truly advanced, how about a delicately sculpted lily or daffodil made of gumpaste. No matter method or design you choose, floral cupcake decorating ideas always seem to be a big hit.

Flower Pot Cupcakes

Tired of just putting flowers on the cake? How about creating a whole edible garden of cookie flowers! Take a look Judy Wang's Flower Pot Cupcakes.

She starts by baking a batch of cupcakes and a batch of flower shaped cookies on lollipop sticks. For the cupcakes, Judy frosted the tops with green icing piped to look like grass. She also removed the paper liner. On the cookies, Judy outlined the flower shape in white icing and filled in the design with pink and yellow (you can use what ever colors you like). For the leaves, Judy used good old gum paste and a leave cutter. After the icing on the cookies had time to dry and the leaves had hardened, Judy inserted them into the cupcakes. Judy is an inspiration and has many more cupcake decorating ideas!

Beautiful Rose Cupcake Decorations

Melissa has many beautiful cupcake decorating ideas, but this one is absolutely amazing. The full vibrant nature of her pink rose creation defies gum paste...it looks so real! To achieve this look, Melissa starts with a cupcake foundation in pale cream-yellow which tones down the contrast you would get on a pure white cupcake. The rose itself was carefully crafted with gum paste which assures you delicate but strong petals. It appears Melissa gave each rose petal a little texture and used varying shades of pink gum paste to create a realistic effect. She finished her design with simple pale green leaves to create just enough punch to set off her flower. Melissa has many more stunning cupcake decorating ideas as well!
