Chocolate Heart Valentine Cupcakes

Chocolate lovers will enjoy these beautiful chocolate heart valentine cupcakes. With a lacey detail on the heart “petals” and a healthy swirl of pink frosting, you will be creating a Valentines Day to remember with these pretty cupcakes.
Bakery/Cake Goods needed:
  • Your favorite batch of chocolate cupcakes

  • Your favorite Butter Cream Frosting tinted pink
    (we used old a drop of old fashioned red food coloring)
Heart Decorating Supplies:
  • 1 small bag (6oz) chocolate chips

  • Disposable Icing bags

  • Scissors

  • Wax Paper

  • Small Heart Outline
    (you can draw one out freehand in black pen on a piece of scratch paper)
Cupcake Icing Tools
  • Wilton 1M Star Icing Tip

  • Icing Bags
Finishing Touches
  • Brown Cupcake Liners

Directions for making the Hearts:

Step 1: Fill icing bag half full with chocolate chips or candy melts. Microwave for 30 seconds. Check bag consistency. Make sure the candy warm, but not too hot to handle and lumps are gone. If the candy is not the right consistency, microwave again in short 20 to 30 second increments until candy is ready.

Step 2: Tape the heart design to a flat surface and place wax paper over the top. Snip the end off the icing bag or plastic bag and pipe out the outline of the heart. Fill in the heart with random squiggly lines. Let candy cool and dry completely.

Directions for Icing the Cupcake:

Step 1: Fill the icing bag with pink Butter Cream and fit the opening with the 1M icing tip. Using a circular motion, squeeze out icing to cover the top of the cupcakes.

Step 2: Carefully place the chocolate hearts a top the cupcake. You can vary the placement and number of hearts to suit your taste.
