Black and White Wedding Cupcakes

Show sophistication and flair with these simply designed black and white wedding cupcakes. Premade black fondant makes putting these beauties together very easy.Bakery/Cake Goods needed:- Your favorite batch of chocolate cupcakes
- Pre-made batch of fondant
(since this fondant will be used to cover your cake, we recommend that you make a fresh recipe rather than use pre-made)
- Small amount of butter cream frosting
Cupcake Decorating Supplies:- Pre-made batch of black tinted fondant
(we used Duff Goldman’s Buttercream Fondant)
- Rolling Pin
- White decorative sugar pearls
- Small Flower Cutter
- Small knife
- Wax Paper
- Decorator Icing in a Tube
(we used Wilton’s Decorating Icing in Black)
- Wilton #4 Round Tip
- Coupler Ring
Cupcake Icing Tools:Finishing Touches:- Black and white design cupcake liners
Directions for making the flowers:Step 1: With the small rolling pin, roll out the black fondant, with the floral/petal cutter, cut out flower shapes. Gently shape the flower using a shaping tool like a sponge. For detailed instructions, please see the flower cupcake decorations page.
Step 2: Place two to three white decorative sugar pearls in the center of each flower. Set aside.
Directions for Covering the Cupcake with fondant:Step 1: With the rolling pin, roll out the white fondant on a flat surface.
Step 2: With the 2" cookie cutter, cut out round shapes from the fondant.
Step 3: Ice the tops of the cupcakes with a small amount of butter cream and lay a fondant circle on top.
Decorating the Cupcakes:Step 1: Fit the opening of the decorator tube of black icing with the #4 round tip and coupler and pipe out a curl design on the surface of the cupcake. If you choose, you can add a sugar pearl at one of the ends of the icing curls.
Step 2: Place one small flower on top. If you choose to decorate with just flowers, pipe a small dab of icing on the surface of the cupcake where you want to set the flower. Place flower in the butter cream.
